The Global Chess League (GCL) on Thursday inaugurated its new Experience Centre at Plano, Dallas, with five-time World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand leading the launch. The centre is designed to combine chess, technology, and innovation, providing fans, players, and innovators with an interactive environment to explore AI, analytics, and digital platforms in the game. Overlooking Plano’s skyline, the facility includes spaces for tournaments, live analysis, digital chess innovations, and community engagement. Anand said, “The Global Chess League has always stood for innovation and collaboration. This Experience Centre represents the next step in making chess more engaging, interactive, and global. I’m proud to see how Tech Mahindra is leveraging technology to expand the reach of the game and inspire the next generation.” The centre will also collaborate with universities, chess federations, and technology partners to focus on AI in chess, digital coaching tools, fan engagement, and esports integration. Peeyush Dubey, Chairperson of the GCL, added, “The Experience Centre is more than just a space; it’s a living ecosystem for the global chess community. Our goal is to bring together players, fans, clubs, universities, and partners to co-create the future of chess.” It will serve as a base for global initiatives, including Global Chess League Season 3, scheduled later this year in Mumbai.

Since opening, the centre has hosted events such as the Texas Women’s State Chess Championship, featuring competitors from 13 countries. It is expected to continue hosting tournaments, interactive programs, and chess-tech showcases for enthusiasts, students, and partners. The launch highlights the growing integration of strategic sports like chess with digital innovation, offering a hub where technology and the game meet to inspire the next generation of players and fans.
